On July 8, 2021 the World Bank under the funding provided by the European Union and in partnership with the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Moldova and UN Women launches a comprehensive analysis of public financial management (PFM) system in Moldova at national and subnational levels.

It is designed to provide a snapshot of PFM performance and overview of key strengths and weaknesses of the PFM systems by using a standard methodology that can be replicated in successive assessments, giving a summary of changes over time.

The assessment measures the extent to which public financial management systems processes, and institutions contribute to the achievement of aggregate fiscal discipline, strategic allocation of resources, and efficient service delivery, and for the first time it will consider gender dimensions in PFM.

For a period of several months an interagency team will work on the data collection, consultations and publication of a final assessment report which would contribute to the development of the Government’s new PFM Strategy and will provide a dialogue for future reform initiatives.

In Moldova the PEFA Assessment at national level was conducted 4 times, in 2006, 2008, 2011 and 2015. The reports can be accessed here. For more details access the link of PEFA Secretariat
